The Saga of a New Guitar

So I decided to custom make a guitar because I did not find one I really liked. AND I knew what I wanted. I had been planning this guitar for a few years.

First thing I did was to check out neck building companies. And after lots of research I decided to go with Musikraft!  They are a very good company, reasonable pricing, stellar reputation on the net.

So I ordered the neck. After a few weeks it arrived at my door. In the mean time I started researching body builders. Musikraft did not make the body out of the materials I wanted… Maple center with basswood sides.

After months of research I stumbled on One Eyed Jack Guitars owned (I believe) by Kevin Peel. His pricing is good, and his service is nothing short of amazing! Fantastic communication… every step of the way! You will see…

After I got the neck back from Musikraft, I sent him the neck and Wilkinson trem.

So he got to work. First thing was to lay out the wood. And yes… he sent me pictures of that step.

Then it was time to add the template for the cutting…

After the body was cut from the template, it was time to lay out the cavity controls. The trem controls, and pickups.

Looking Good!… Make that Looking Great!!!

By the way… Kevin does all his work by hand. No CnC machines for him.

More in the next post!
